Gladys M. Hanson, 87, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Westlawn Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Speidel officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Gladys was born on October 22, 1927 in Smithland, Iowa to Clarence and Tory Anna (Garved) Scott. She graduated from Smithland High School. Gladys worked at Montgomery Wards where she met her soon to be husband Kenneth Hanson. They were married on July 29, 1948 in South Sioux City, NE. She later started working at the Battery Building. She also worked for Aalfs Company and St. Vincent Hospital. She later retired from Communication Services. Gladys enjoyed reading, doing daily crossword puzzles, quilting with her church circle, and spending time with her family and friends. She looked forward every year spending the summer at their cabin at Lake Kabetogama in Minnesota with her husband and family. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Hanson of Sioux City; daughter Holly Natvig of Northfield, MN; son Jerry (Jeanne Helling) Hanson of Dubuque, IA; daughter Barbara Hanson of Tequesta, FL; grandchildren Kendra (Steve) Martin, Jonathan Natvig, Cody Wolter and significant other April Cox, Becca Wolter, Carter Hanson, Lisa (Nick) Kies, Allyson, Catherine and Cole Awasthi; great grandchildren Easton and Brennan Martin and Colson and Miranda Kies. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Kenneth Mark Hanson, sisters Lavonne Miller and Barbara Prichard and a brother James Scott. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Mercy Medical Center for all their kind and caring service. Memorials may be made to the family.
