William Willard "W.W." Gates, 86 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Father David Hemann will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday all at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Bill was born April 28, 1928 in Marshalltown, IA; he was the son of Vernon and Marian (Field) Gates. The family moved to Sioux City where he graduated from Trinity High School, and enrolled in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then attended Morningside College and Drake University, earning a law degree. He was united in marriage to Bonita Jean Evans in 1950 and together they had 7 children. Bonita passed away in 1969. Bill practiced law in Sioux City for many years before retiring on his 62nd birthday. He pursued his passion of farming and raising cattle for more than 40 years. Survivors include his children: Daughter, Jeraldean Semple of Sioux City and her children Rich Nettleton, Bob Nettleton, Molly Young, Sara Avery, Guy Nettleton and Jake Semple. Daughter, Suanne (Dan) Steichen of Remsen, IA and her children Adam Dwyer, Austin, Andy, Sarah and Billy Steichen. Daughter, Maryanne (Kurt) Hutter of Belleville, WI and their daughter Jessica Hutter. Son, Bill (Donna) Gates of Sioux City and daughters Ashley Prince and Lindsey Miller. Daughter, Molly Camarigg of Sioux City and her children Davis, Demi and Cass Camarigg. Son, Tom (Danielle) Gates of Lawton, IA and their children Kylie, Hunter and Landon Gates. He has 22 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Bonita Jean Gates, daughter: Jodeen Gates and his parents.
