Lucille M. Phillips, 80, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, January 9, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery in Merrill. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Lucille was born the daughter of Frank and Esther (Sorenson) Phillips on January 13, 1934 in Luton, Iowa. She graduated from Briar Cliff University and obtained her Master's degree from the University of South Dakota. Lucille worked at Swift and Company after high school for a few years before attending college. After college, she became a math teacher at Sergeant Bluff and also taught at Western Iowa Tech. Lucille enjoyed playing cards, bridge, crossword puzzles, and her cats. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Lucille is survived by two brothers, Marvin (Loretta) Phillips and Thomas (Geraldine) Phillips both of Sioux City; and one niece, Courtney (Eric) Mossburg of Brunsville, Iowa and great nephew, Caden. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, or Briar Cliff University.
