Gary E. Vondrak, 63 of rural Hinton, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Private Funeral Services (per Gary's request) will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 with burial in the Liberty Perry Township Cemetery with Military Honors. Public Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established at Pinnacle Bank in Hinton. Gary was born on March 18, 1951 in Sioux City to George and Joyce (Boardman) Vondrak, Sr. He received his education at the Hinton Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. He farmed in the Hinton area from 1973 until 1999. Gary's first marriage was to Marlene Munson in 1973, to which union four children were born. He worked at Trinity Rail for 17 years before his retirement. He married Bonnie MacGregor on July 26, 2001 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, and raising his cow/calf herd, however, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He was a skilled craftsman when it came to working with wood. Gary enjoyed visiting with his neighbors in the afternoons. Gary is survived by his wife Bonnie of rural Hinton; son Shane Vondrak and his wife Kristy of Sioux City; daughters Amanda Vondrak of Sioux City, Cindy Oetken and her husband Derek of Hinton, and Colette Stroh and her husband Aaron of Sioux City; grandchildren Travis Vondrak Aubrie Vondrak William Oetken, and Holly Vondrak along with 9 step grandchildren; mother Joyce Vondrak; brothers George "Benny" Vondrak, Jr., and his wife Merry of Sioux City, and Ed Vondrak and his wife Theresa of Hinton; sisters Veronica Krage and her husband Steve of Sioux City, and Gloria Mollett and her husband Lee of McCook Lake, South Dakota. Gary was preceded in death by his father and sister Colette Vondrak.
