Jeanette Barron Rogers, 83, a lifelong resident of Sioux City, passed away on Dec. 25, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital of natural causes. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Epiphany, with the Rev. Patrick officiating. Graveside services will follow with a reception at the church at 1 p.m. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a rosary at 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jeanette "Red", the daughter of Gertrude and Charles Barron was born on Aug. 13, 1931, in their home. She attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School. She was a lifelong member of Cathedral Parish, where she married her husband, Tom, on June 14, 1958. Jeanette was a longtime employee of the city, retiring in August 1993. She frequently shared her loving, funny memories of growing up with her lifelong friends. Jeanette loved to play cards, especially Thirty-one and Tripoloy with her family and friends. She was a crossword puzzle wizard. Jeanette laughed easily and had the gift of making others laugh with her quick wit and ever-present positive outlook on life. She is survived by her children, Mary Zorgdrager, 56, of Sioux City, T.J., 52, of Sioux City, and Beth, 49, of Olympia, Wash. She was also the proud grandmother of Jack Allen Fisher, 32, Nick Rogers, 25, and Brian Rogers, 22, all of Sioux City. Jeanette is also survived by her two sisters, Norma McGuire (Ken), and Marilyn Immele-Rodgers (Sy). Jeanette's constant companion, Rascal will move to Riverside to live with T.J. Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Tom on Nov. 28, 2004; and her parents. Pallbearers will be Nick and Brian Rogers, Keith McGuire, and Mick, Ronnie and Neil Derochie.
