Richard Leah Cox, 62, of Sioux City passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 from a 6 month battle with cancer. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Oelwein, IA. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Arrangements are under the direction Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Richard was born on February 16, 1952 in San Antonio, TX to Robert and Patricia Cox. He graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio, TX. Richard was married to Rose Mata in San Antonio, TX. The couple later divorced. He was later married to Tracy Nielsen in Oelwein, IA in 2004. Richard was born and raised in San Antonio. He moved to Independence, IA in 1992 and then moved to Oelwein, IA in 1998. He later relocated to Sioux City in 2006. Richard worked at Deckers in San Antonio, Iowa Ham in Independence, Tyson Foods in Oelwein, and Curlys in Sioux City. He enjoyed grilling, reading, spending time with his grandsons, watching old western and war movies and fishing. He will be fondly remembered by his family as happily cheating during family game night. He amazed everyone with his vast knowledge of random trivia and collecting "cool guy" stuff. He is survived by his wife Tracy Cox of Sioux City, sons Rick (Robyn) Cox of Cedar Rapids, IA; Zackary Nielsen and Samuel Nielsen of Sioux City; daughter Katie (Chris Green) Nielsen of Sioux City; grandchildren Cameron McAllister and Jackson Green; sister Carol Cox of Oelwein, IA; brothers Paul Cox of Oelwein and Robert Cox of Mississippi; and John (Kathy) Cox of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
