Marilyn Schultz

Marilyn Schultz of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 15th, 2014. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday December 18th at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City with the Rev. Ralph Shorey and the Rev. Patrick Simmons officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. that day at Faith Lutheran Church, and the burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery. Pall bearers for the service will be Larry Joines, Virgil Caldwell, Ralph Schroeder, Dave Drefke, Marv Crim, and Duane Sorenson. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Marilyn, the daughter of Verl and Gertrude Nebergall was born September 3rd, 1935 in Tipton, Iowa. She graduated from Tipton High School and the University of Iowa School of Practical Nursing. Marilyn married Don Schultz on September 9th, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Moving to Sioux City in 1960, Marilyn was employed at Lutheran Hospital in the pharmacy department. She later was employed in the pharmacy of the Sioux City Medical Clinic, where she worked for 15 years. Marilyn's faith was the strength and force of her life. She was blessed to be a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served in many areas of ministry over the years there, including teaching Sunday school, VBS, confirmation classes, the church choir, and as an officer of the LWML women's group and the Faith, Hope, and Charity Circle. Marilyn enjoyed children, traveling, listening to classical music, reading, counted cross-stitch, and spending time with family members and friends. She and Don traveled to all of the states except two, and for several years they spent the winter months in Orange Beach, Alabama. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Don; children Brent (and Joan) Schultz from Marysville, Ohio and Beth (and Pat) Simmons from Shakopee, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Trey and Kaitlyn Schultz and Grant and Kara Simmons; and three brothers, Allen (and Beverly) Nebergall of Oldsmar, Florida, Kenneth Nebergall of Tipton, Iowa, and Glen (and Sue) Nebergall of Tipton, Iowa. Memorial may be directed in her name to Good Shepherd Hour, Hospice of Siouxland and faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
