Jerry Talbott, 78, lifelong resident of Elk Point, passed away Tuesday, November 25th after a brief illness. Private family services for Jerry will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family to be established at a later date. Jerry was born June 21, 1936 in Elk Point to Clarence & Myrtle (Caskey) Talbott. He married Donna Bechtold in 1954 and they had three children, Doug, Geraldine "Jeri" and Larry. Jerry lived his entire life in Elk Point. He started working at an early age driving gravel truck for the county and continued working there for many years. He then drove truck over the road until 1977 when he took a position as street superintendent for the city of Elk Point. He worked there for 21 years until his retirement in 1998. Even after his retirement he kept busy operating the maintainer for rural Union county townships. Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and taking his dog, Casey for rides and walks in the park. He also enjoyed his trips to Nebraska to see his kids and grandkids. Survivors include his children, Doug Talbott and wife, Linda of Elk Point; Jeri Markee and husband, Rod of Imperial, NE; and Larry Talbott and wife, Carrie also of Imperial; 6 grandchildren, Roman Powell, Cherie (Jeff) Rau, Brad Markee, Jessica (Brian) Fern, Nicholas (Rudi) Talbott and Tyler Talbott; 8 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Paityn and Brandon Rau, Hailey, Harley and Hayden Markee, Alex and Addison Fern; sister, Marilyn (Harley) Trobaugh of Kansas City, MO; and lifetime friend, Sam Austad of Elk Point. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
