Michael R. Brewer, Sr.

Michael R. Brewer, Sr., 61, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mike was born the son of William and Rita (Webb) Brewer, Sr. on January 21, 1953 in Ponca, Nebraska. He was raised in Ponca. He married Monica Heydon from Newcastle, Nebraska in 1971. They had four children. Mike was a truck driver, horse trader, and had many other trades. He met Sherry Houts in 1999 and enjoyed the rest of his days with her. Mike is survived by three daughters, Candy (Larry) Brewer of Chicago, IL, Cindy Mikkelson of Ponca, NE, Cathy (Pete) Velez of Ponca, NE; one son, Michael (Kelly) Brewer, Jr. of Ponca, NE; special friend, Sherry Houts of Vermillion, SD and her children; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linda (John) Jones of Sioux City, IA, Rose (Bob) Benson of Dade City, FL, Deb (Dick) Otto of Centerville, SD; and one brother, Donald "Duck" Brewer of Vinton, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William, Jr. and Terry.
