Ruth M. Mesenbrink, 95 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend R. Paul Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. Ruth was born on March 22, 1919 in Castana, Iowa to Albert and Edna (Livengood) Erickson. She received her education in Castana before her marriage to Harold Mesenbrink on February 22, 1938 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Ruth loved being a homemaker for her family and she enjoyed crocheting. Ruth has been a Sioux City resident for over 68 years, where she has enjoyed her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church and the sewing group associated with the church. Ruth is survived by her daughters Beverly Anfinson of Hinton, IA, Sharon Treft and her husband Leroy of San Matao, CA, and Dixie Miller and her husband Tony of Hinton, IA; sisters Mary LeFebvre and Dorothy LeFebvre, both of Mapleton, IA; grandchildren Marc (Julie) Anfinson, Marty (Lori) Anfinson, Karla (Grady) Marx, Kim (Dave) Wenzel, Cory (Carie) Anfinson, Brad (Carla) Treft, Luane Treft, Linda (Marc) Whyte, Larry (Tina) Treft and LeAnn Treft; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold in 1979, son-in-law Allen Anfinson, grandson Kevin Anfinson, and brothers Donald, Merlin, and Robert Erickson.
