SIOUX CITY | Shirley Anna Rupp, 78, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at Sunrise Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Shirley was born Oct. 29, 1936 in Ponca, NE the daughter of Raymond and Ellen (Nelson) Stading. She was raised in the rural Ponca area and graduated from Ponca High School in 1953 She moved to Sioux City in 1953 and was employed with Frazier Eales Co. for 3 years. Shirley then went to work for Grandy Pratt Co. in Feb. of 1957 where she worked for 44 years until her retirement on Oct. 31, 2001. Shirley married Louis "Gene" Rupp on Nov. 17, 1956 in Ponca, NE. The couple resided in Sioux City all their married life. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the ELCA Women of the church and also served on the Altar Guild Society. She was a member of Morningside Chapter No. 502 Order of Eastern Star. Shirley was a United Way Coordinator at Grandy Pratt for many years. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren were very special to her. Survivors include her husband, Gene; 2 daughters, Kim and her husband, Tom Donahue and Lori and her husband, Joel Steenhoven all of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Willis and Janet Stading of So. Sioux City, NE; 4 grandchildren, Lindsay and Ben Steenhoven and Ryan and Riley Donahue; a brother-in-law, Dean Clark of Sioux City; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Paul Stading, her husband's parents, Louis and Lulu Rupp, 3 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and 2 nephews and one niece. Pallbearers will be Ryan Donahue, Ben Steenhoven, Rich Servis, Craig Clark, Daniel Junck and Mark Walz. Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
