Edwin J. Utech Jr., 80, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. A funeral mass of Christian burial will at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Eddie was born on July 4, 1934 to Edwin H. and Wilma (Lymer) Utech. He was married to Shirley Heider on June 30, 1953 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. Eddie was a lifelong Master Carpenter and owner of Utech Construction Co. Eddie enjoyed home improvement projects, helping his children with their projects, gardening, music and family gatherings. He also enjoyed Suzie's Saloon and Miller Light.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Utech of Sioux City; seven of eight children Steve (Cheryl) Utech of Sioux City; Doug (Debbie) Utech of Sioux City; Bryan (Carolyn) Utech of Larose, LA; Thaddeus (Lisa) Utech of Mission Hill, SD; Tom (Sue) Utech of Sioux City; Lisa (Dean) Harmon of Sioux City; Kelly (Jerry) Risacher of Sioux City; 2 sisters Brendaloy Nolan of Omaha, NE; Gail (Byron) White of San Diego, CA; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and longtime friend, John Harrison. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Eddie III, and a grandson Jason Utech.
