Florence M. Schmidt, 84, of Sioux City, formerly of Moville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at a Sioux City care facility. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Online condolences can be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Florence, the daughter of Marvin and Clara (McClain) Chamberlain, was born on Aug. 27, 1930, in Burbank, S.D. She received her education at Vermillion, S.D., schools. Florence married Cliff Schmidt on Dec. 4, 1948, in Vermillion. After their marriage, they lived in Vermillion and Le Mars, Iowa, for a short time before settling in Moville, where she lived until recently moving to Sioux City. Florence worked as a nurse's aid at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City and also for Swift & Co. Hatchery in Moville. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing piano, gardening, sewing, and crafts. She loved to decorate her home. Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dakota Dutchers, and Moville Women's Club. Florence is survived by four sons, Craig Schmidt of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Harlan (Bonnie) Schmidt of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bruce (Laurie) Schmidt of Moville, and Bryce (Lori) Schmidt of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Marvin, Kelly, Kari, Kimberly, Christopher, Seth, Shanna, Lindsey, Blake, and Brenna; and five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cooper, Cuinn, Kayden, and Elijah. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; two brothers, Marvin Jr. and Jimmy; and one sister, Joyce.
