Dwight William Joslin, 87, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sheryl Ashley and Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Masonic service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Dwight William Joslin was born on July 27, 1927, on a farm near Hartington, Neb., the son of Bert and Anna (Rassmussen) Joslin. He attended school in rural Hartington and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1947. On Jan. 2, 1947, he went to work at Wincharger in Sioux City for two years. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Air Force and remained on active duty until 1952. In 1952, he returned to Wincharger for one year. In 1953, he purchased and operated Joslin's IGA grocery store in Sioux City and sold it in 1962. He married Berniece Roberts in September 1955 in Emerson, Neb. He started selling real estate for Joslin Reality in 1960 in Sioux City. Dwight was very active in the Masonic Lodge and was master of the Riverside Lodge 662. He was president of the Abu-Bekr Shrine Foot Patrol, and was a 50-year member of the Shrine. Dwight and Berniece were very active for years in square dancing. Dwight was one of the founders of Associated Brokers Real Estate in Sioux City. He retired from the real estate business on Oct. 18, 1993. He and Berniece enjoyed 25 years of winters in Mesa, Ariz. (1979 to 2004). In 2004, they moved from their home on Aztec Circle to Northern Hills Retirement Community. In November 2007, they moved to Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City. Dwight is survived by three sons, Larry and his wife, Cheri of Sioux City, Louis and his wife, Sue of Ellicott City, Md., and Ronald and his wife, Karen of Fordyce, Neb.; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Pearson; one brother-in-law, Jack Boulden; one sister-in-law Charlene Joslin; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Paul Joslin and one infant son; one daughter Lorraine; two brothers, Byron and Chet Joslin; one sister, Dorothy Boulden; and two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Katelyn Joslin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland.
