Kenneth E. Early

Kenneth E. Early, 83 of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Rev. James Travis will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Hinton, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ken was born July 25, 1931 in Sioux City; he was the son of Edwin and Thilda (Arndt) Early. His family farmed in the Kingsley and Hinton areas and Ken graduated from Hinton High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ken married Nada Dierking March 12, 1954 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Ken worked for Sioux Tools before going to work at the Sioux City Stockyards for a couple of Livestock and Commission Firms. He became a partner in Brown, Goff & Foster Livestock Commission Firm and retired in 1997. He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served in several Church offices and was a member of the choir. Ken was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Sprint Car and Nascar Races. Ken and Nada loved to travel and spend time with family. Ken is survived by his wife Nada of Sioux City; 3 children: Bradley Early (Deborah) of Mickleton, NJ, Tamara Early of Fenton, MO, Joleen Ploeger (Edward) of Eureka, MO; his brother: Raymond C. Early of Gladstone, MO; 5 grandchildren: Brian Early (Jennifer), Daniel Early, Trevor Ploeger (Meghan), Amanda Ploeger and Derek Ploeger and 3 great grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be David Binder, Fred Vollink, David Schlotman, Bruce Lahrs, Ryan Lahrs and Bill Book
