Charlotte M. Melland

Charlotte Melland, 93, died Oct. 21 at Vitas Hospice in Kansas City. Formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, she was for 13 years a resident of John Knox Village and, more recently, Valley View Residential Care, where she made many friends. Survivors include daughter, Linnea (Ken), of rural Jackson County, son, Michael (Kate) Melland of Oakland, CA, grandson Chris (Paula) Korinek, of Incline Village, NV, and nephew, Curtis (Jane), of Antioch, CA, and Kathy, Travis, Nicole, Todd, and Tolen. Her husband, Milton Melland, a career Air Force officer, died in 1987. The family thanks the Valley View staff for loving care over the past 3 years and the Vitas staff for a warm and compassionate sanctuary after her final fall. Donations may be made to Our Lady of the Presentation church in Lee's Summit, MO. Burial of her cremains will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel, Sioux City, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
