Earl John Michener, 95 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at a local care facility. Memorial services will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Chaplain Mark Westrich will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Garden Park in Brea, CA. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Earl was born September 1, 1919 in Sioux City; he was the son of Goerge O. and Laura A. (Taylor) Michener. Earl served in the U. S. Army Air Force during WW II from Sept. of 1942 to Jan. of 1946. He married Margrethe Duzik and they farmed in the Lawton area from 1946 to 1949. Earl worked for the Northwestern Railroad in Sioux City and then the family moved to Norwalk, CA in 1956. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Los Angeles, CA until he retired in 1980. Earl was an active member of the Siouxland Senior Center in Sioux City and the Senior Center in California. He enjoyed family get togethers, camping and traveling. He moved back to Sioux City in Sept of 2007 to live with his daughter Jana. Survivors include 2 daughters: Jana Michener of Sioux City and Ina Widman of Minnesota; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Earl Michener, his late wife Margrethe Michener, 4 brothers: Elza, Gus, Harry and Ernest, 5 sisters: Helen Horn, Hazel Goolsly, Dorothy McFarland, Ethel Anderson and Gladys Michener.
