SIOUX CITY | Derald Dean Wright, 67, of Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at Touchstone Living Center after a long illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Derald was born Feb. 3, 1947 in Kingsley, IA the son of Lloyd B. and Buelah A. (Black) Wright. He grew up and attended school in Bronson, IA. Derald worked for the White Horse Mounted Patrol for 20 years and retired in 2001. Prior to that he worked for Robert Logan Farms in Moville and then for Goodwill Industries in Sioux City. Horses and farm work was his passion. Derald enjoyed collecting model horses and caps. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Derald was a 10 gallon blood donor. Survivors include a brother and his wife, Kenny and Marlene Wright of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Elaine and Jim Westeen of Kempner, TX; a brother-in-law, Earl Livengood of So. Sioux City, NE; 4 nephews and 3 nieces, Keith (Fuzhen) Wright of Milwaukee, WI, Dennis (Karen) Wright of Sioux City, Dale Wright of Denver, CO, Deanna Hullinger of Sioux City, Brian Livengood of So. Sioux City, NE, Tina (Chris) Locke of Coppers Cove, TX and Windy Westeen and her special friend, Wilburt of Coppers Cove, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Keith and sister, Arlene Kay Livengood. Pallbearers will be Dennis Wright, Aaron Nelson, Bob Charlson, Terry Booe, Marinda Wright and George Houts. The family would like to thank Touchstone Living Center and Hospice of Siouxland for the compassion and care they gave Derald.
