John William Jacobs, 46, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from complications from seizures at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. John was born on January 27, 1968 in Hawarden, IA to Emil and Henrietta (Schelling) Jacobs. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1987 and graduated with honors from WITT in golf course management. He was employed with Gerkin Windows and Siding until his health prohibited him from working. John was married to Shelly Neri on June 15, 2002 in Sioux City. John was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Sioux City Bandits. He was a licensed referee officiating football, softball and basketball. He was an avid Chiefs fan and loved spending time with his granddaughters. John was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Siouxland Officials. He is survived by his wife Shelly Jacobs of Sioux City; step daughters Amanda Tibbetts and Brittany Salvatori; granddaughters Samantha Tibbetts and Leah Hanson; sisters Janet (Clifford) Sorum and Judith Jacobs; a brother James (Jennifer) Jacobs; father and mother in-law Phillip F. (Anita) Neri brother and sister in-laws Phillip R. (Diane) Neri; Teresa (Kraig) Feste; Brenda (Joe) Parkhill; Gina Neri and Fiancée David Bonthus. John was a kind and giving person which he demonstrated with in his final hours of his life. John chose to donate his organs so others could enjoy life.
