Francis E. Bass, 92, of Ponca, NE formerly of Iowa City, IA passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Elms Care Center in Ponca, NE. A Private Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Newcastle, NE with Rev. Andrew Sohm officiating and Rev. Tom Bauwens concelebrating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery in Newcastle, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1940. When Francis had time, he enjoyed traveling to Rome and Mexico. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Marquette Council, Iowa City, IA and 4th Degree Larces Assembly, Davenport, IA. He is survived by his nieces and nephews. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
