Fred was born December 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Fred and Maureen (McKenna) Locke. He attended St. Bede grade school, St. Lawrence High School, and the University of Illinois, graduating in 1974 with a B.S. in finance. Fred married the love of his life, Suzie Tepper in Chicago on April 5, 1975. They recently celebrated 39 years of wedded bliss. He worked as an Andy Frain usher from 1966 to 1968, working in major sporting events, concerts, and festivities in the Chicagoland area including his favorite, "Da Bears". He sold jewelry at Mark's Brothers in Chicago from 1968 to 1974. He was employed with Jockey International from 1974 to 1976. In January of 1977, he joined IBP/Denison Hide, now Tyson Fresh Meats, where he held various sales positions. Fred retired at the end of March 2011 after 34 wonderful years due to health reasons. He was inducted into the Hide Hall of Fame. In his free time he enjoyed golf, bowling, dancing with his wife, Suzie, and the Chicago Bears. He loved being involved in his families' activities as much as possible, including: coaching soccer, camping, and fishing. He was very proud of how his family flourished and matured under his guidance. Fred was a great story teller and his gentle presence, keen intelligence, and wicked sense of humor will surely be missed. He was very proud of his culinary skills of many levels, holding annual feasts in August and November with numerous friends and family members. He enjoyed gathering together in his Sioux City home and his second home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin where he spent many summers with his family as a child. He eventually purchased his own "get away" near the lake. Fred was an active member of the Church of the Nativity where he served on the Parish Council, as an usher at Mass, and worked Bingo games, and the Friday night Fish Fries. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be directed to the family.
