M. Dolores "Pudgy" Black, 92 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Regency Square Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City with Father Jose Mendoza as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brother Morningside Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dolores was born on May 13, 1922 in Danbury, Iowa to Raymond J. and Mary C. "Celly" (Fitzpatrick) Sexton. She received her education at Saint Mary's Catholic Grade School in Danbury before graduating with the Class of 1939 from Danbury High School. Dolores continued her studies at the Saint Vincent's Hospital College of Nursing in Sioux City, graduating with the Class of 1944. She married Roy Louis "Junior" Black on February 26, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City. To this union, two children were born, Daniel Roy and Mary Bridget. Dolores was a Registered Nurse at Saint Vincent's Hospital/Marian Health Center, retiring on May 14, 1981. Dolores is survived by her son Daniel Roy Black and his wife Barbara A. from South Sioux City, Nebraska and daughter Mary Bridget (Black) Grant of Wichita Falls, Texas; brothers Robert H. "Bob" Sexton of Tuscon, Arizona and Kieran R. "Tiny" Sexton and significant other Jean Bossow of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law Connie (Black) Hensley of Englewood, Florida; grandchildren Sunshine Marie (Black) McGinty and her husband Jeremy of Carlsbad, California, Ashley Ann (Black) Moravek and her husband Tony of Sioux City, Iowa, Seth Daniel Black of Portland, Oregon, Carter Roy Black of Omaha, Nebraska, Cain Richard Grant and his significant other Tawny Jessica Garcia of Austin, Texas, and Brie Ann Grant of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren Noah Blue McGinty, Grace Kaley McGinty, Ava Ann Moravek, Mason Roy Moravek, and Awyn Noelle Grant. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy in June of 1988, sisters Maxine Arney and her husband Bill and Veda Mae Workman and her husband George, brother Thomas "Skip" and his wife Fern "Cubby" Sexton, niece Janice Wolterman and her husband Pete and their son Michael, nephew William "Billy" Workman, brother-in-law Patrick J. Black, and sister-in-law Mrs. Robert "Ila" Sexton. A special thanks from Dolores' family to Regency Square Care Center for their faithful Service and to Hospice of Siouxland. Casket Bearers will be Dolores' Grandchildren, to whom she was a very devoted grandmother, and Honor Guard by Saint Vincent's Nursing Alumni, an organization of which she was proudly associated.
