Pamela Marie Hodgins Culbertson

Pamela Marie Hodgins Culbertson, 49, of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at home, from natural causes. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Pam was born May 23, 1965, in Englewood, Colo., to Warren and Marilyn (Draisey) Hodgins, the oldest of five children. She lost her father at a young age. She attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Sioux City West High School in 1983. Pam attended Western Iowa Tech Community College. Pam was a longtime employee for the City of Sioux City before moving to Qwest Communications. She was currently employed with Hirschbach Motor Lines as a customer service manager. She married Dennis Culbertson May 3, 1986; the marriage ended in 2007. They had three beautiful children, Megan, Melissa and Mitchell. Pam will always be remembered for her unparalleled devotion to her children. Her greatest joys were raising her children and spending time with and supporting her nieces and nephews, family members and friends. She volunteered for many causes, including her children's schools, March of Dimes, and the Soup Kitchen. She was an active member of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ, including serving as president of the congregation and as a Sunday school teacher. In her free time she enjoyed reading, running, playing tennis, caring for her dog and cat Hilda and Calvin, and taking walks. Survivors include her three children, Megan Culbertson (fiance Elsen Hoxhalli) of Chicago, and Melissa Culbertson and Mitchell Culbertson of Sioux City; her mother, Marilyn (Ronald) Bandza of Sioux City; two brothers, Brian (Mona) Hodgins of Sioux City and Brad (Tamara) Hodgins of Chanhassen, Minn.; two sisters, Sheila (Mike) Molden and Debbie (Mark) Elgert, both of Sioux City; her former husband, Dennis Culbertson; and 15 beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Hodgins; former father-in-law, Richard Culbertson; former brother in-law, Scott Culbertson; and her grandparents, George and Carol Draisey, and Thomas and Martha Hodgins.
