Danny J. Beck, 70, of Hinton, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at a local care facility after a courageous five month battle with a brain tumor. Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Hinton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with family present 6 to 8 P.M and a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Danny was born the son of Paul and Dorothy (Ebrecht) Beck on June 13, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1963 and attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux City. Danny married Kathy Kelso on October 22, 1965 at the Hinton United Methodist Church. Danny worked as an accountant for Terra Chemical, Booth Fisheries, Sioux Tools, and Farmer's Coop before retiring from Siouxland Paramedics in October of 2010. Danny enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being involved in the Hinton Fire & Rescue Department, and living in a wonderful community like Hinton. He was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church and Hinton Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department since 1990, where he served as the EMS Director and Treasurer. He was also a member of the American Legion Casper Post in Hinton. Danny joined the 133rd Army Guard in 1963 and retired from the 185th Air Guard in 1993. Danny is survived by his wife, Kathy Beck; son, Chad Beck; daughter, Erin Weiland and her husband Stacy all of Hinton; three granddaughters, McKenna, Kyleigh, Alyssia; two sisters, Corlee Scott and her husband Rick of Sioux City and Robin Mohl and her husband Rich of Lake Ozark, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law, Mert and Gerry Kelso. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Hinton United Methodist Church or Hinton Fire & Rescue.
