Phyllis was born on April 21, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clifford and Helen (Conway) Omer. She attended grade school at Cathedral and was honored to graduate with the first class of Bishop Heelan High School in 1950. Phyllis fell in love and married Eugene William Parks on August 26, 1950. They shared 63 years of marriage until his death in November of 2013. From this union they were blessed with seven wonderful children. Phyllis was employed at Daytons Department Store in Rochester, Minnesota for four years. She was proud to be the first woman to ever work in the Men's department. She returned to Sioux City and was employed at Karlton's Clothiers and Tailors for the past 27 years until her retirement in October of 2013. Phyllis was an avid golfer on the women's league for 35 years at Sun Valley Golf Course. She was an active bowler with her daughter Tracie Farmer in Charles City, Iowa. Their team was named the "Perfect 10's." She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Chapter XI MU for five years in Rochester, Minnesota. She was honored to have been nominated and chosen as Queen of her sorority. Those left to honor her memory are her children Bob Parks, Sheryl (Randy) Stusse, Steve (Barb) Parks, all of Sioux City; Lisa Millage of Hawarden, Iowa; Susan (Rick) Rague of Waconia, Minnesota; Tracie (Al) Farmer of Orchard, Iowa. She is also survived by her sister Lois Hutchinson of Springfield, Virginia. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her 14 beautiful grandchildren and 11 amazing great grandchildren. Among those who gratefully shared her life are her Karlton's "family". The 27 years of hard work and fun made it difficult for her to retire at the age of 81. She was forever grateful for their friendship. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Clifford & Helen Omer, brother Bill Omer, husband Eugene Wm. Parks, son David Parks, In-laws Bill & Liz Parks, granddaughter Alisha Parks and great grandson Zane Parks. Her determination to live life to the best of her ability will be remembered always by her family and friends. Her courage and strength in the last days of her life will be cherished in the hearts of her children forever. Special mention to Hospice of Siouxland for the excellent tender loving care of our mother in her final days. You are truly angels.
