Marvin A. Peterson

Marvin A. Peterson, 69, of Sioux City passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Vigil Service held at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Marv was born January 1, 1945 in Sioux City, the son of Clifford A. and Helen L. (Hinkel) Peterson. He served in the United States Navy. Marv married Darlane M. Titus on August 30, 1963. To this union, a daughter Gloria was born. He worked with Hawkeye Transmission, Top Line Transmission, and owned his own business for many years called Marv's Repair. Marv was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very proud of his grandchildren. Marv was very kind and helpful and would come to the aid of anyone in need. He loved to help neighbors cut down trees and was a very good mechanic. Marv also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Survivors include his wife Darlane; a daughter Gloria Peterson LaScala and significant other Ronny Duerksen; two grandchildren Andrew J. LaScala and Nicole M. LaScala; siblings: Carl (Cleo) Peterson of Sioux City, Chris Cook of Onawa, Ron (Sue) Cook of Sioux City, Carol Jean Bremmer of Onawa, and Sharlyn (Bill) Franco of Sargent Bluff; a sister in law Karen Peterson of Olathe, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Marv was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gary Peterson. Casket Bearers will be Andrew J. LaScala, Andrew M. Peterson, Gary Larson, Jason Grant, Ron Eaton Sr., and Ron Eaton Jr. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to the family in Marv's memory.
