Mary E. Doxtad, 83 of Sioux City, began her eternal life on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 while comforted by her family at her residence. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25th at Whitfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Liz Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 24th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Mary was born on November 4, 1930 in Nacora, Nebraska to Sylvester and Etta (Thompson) Gatzemeyer. She received her education in a one-room school in Maskell, NE, graduating as the only member of her class. She married Harold Doxtad on January 3, 1949 in Maskell, NE before the couple relocated to Sioux City. Mary was a proud homemaker to her family. Mary loved spending time with family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and games, reading, crocheting, sewing and home remodeling projects. She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church, and was a resident of Sioux City for over 50 years. Mary is survived by her three children; Leon (Lynn) Doxtad, Larry Doxtad, and June Doxtad; a granddaughter Karri (Jason) Wilde and great-granddaughters Kay-Lea Wilde and Alexis Wilde; all of Sioux City. A step-grandson Keith (Jennifer) Roupe and great-granddaughter Piper, of McCook Lake, SD. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Etta, her husband, Harold; and a daughter, Judy.
