Ardis Arlene Tobin

June 23, 1925 — August 18, 2014

Ardis Arlene Tobin, 89, of Sioux City passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at her residence. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend R. Paul Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Ardis was born June 23, 1925 in Tyler, MN the daughter of Benjamin and Sina (Hunding) Nielsen. Ardis married Robert F. Tobin on June 23, 1946 in Tyler, MN. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1999 in Sioux City. Ardis worked as a beautician for a short time before getting her Registered Nurse's degree. She had a love for animals and enjoyed gardening and swimming. Ardis also loved to travel and visited many places including Asia, Europe, Hawaii, and The Holy Land. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered her time at the Blood Bank. Ardis was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include her sons: Andrew and wife Chong Suk Tobin of Colorado Springs, CO, Larry and wife Kay Tobin of Sioux City, and Doug and wife Penny Tobin of Sioux City; 9 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; and a brother Leeland and wife Shirley Nielsen of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents, a daughter Roberta Tobin on October 21, 1994, and a brother Dale Nielsen. Casket Bearers will be Kevin Tobin, Robert Tobin, Gene Tobin, Tommy Tobin, Ivan Fish, Josh Bassett, Dennis Wisner, and Nick Goodwin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Ardis's memory.
