Alfred A. Scheer

Alfred A. Scheer, 86, of Correctionville, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his residence. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa. Alfred was the eleventh child of twelve born to Joseph Henry and Johanna (Dohrman) Scheer on August 8, 1928 near Oto, Iowa. Their family moved to another farm near Anthon. Later they moved to Correctionville where he continued to work as a farm hand. For many years he worked for Westendorph in Smithland and Onawa. Alfred loved to hunt and tell stories. His gift of storytelling made you feel like you were there. Alfred is survived by one sister, Lorraine Scheer of Correctionville, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Aldre, Lester, Vern, Henry, Arlo, and Edwin; sisters, Mazel Buettner, Sylvia Wasmund, Helma Krueger, and Alverta Hauschildt.
