Donald J. "Don" Dalton, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nativity. Father Steven McLoud will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8: 00 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Don was born in Audubon, IA, the son of Wilbert and Antonette (Kotyneck) Dalton. He grew up in Carroll, IA and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa, College of Law. Don served his nation as a career officer in the U.S. Air Force as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General Corps. After his military service, Don was a Judge Magistrate in Sioux City for 18 years. Don married his lifelong sweetheart, Jane F. Mairose on April 21, 1953 in LeMars, IA. They were blessed with 61 years of love, laughter and adventure. Don was a devout Catholic and a loving husband and father of two children. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity and enjoyed family time with his children and grandsons, traveling the world with Jane and a classic old western movie. Survivors include his wife Jane of Sioux City, daughter Kristie (Kevin) Dunn of Lakeville, MN; son, Paul Dalton; sister, Dorothy Dalton of Carroll, IA; two grandchildren, Benjamin Dunn and Kiernan Dalton and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters Pallbearers will be Bob Dalton, Mike Dalton, Ben Dunn, Kiernan Dalton, Dan Mairose, and Kevin Dunn.
