Vincent M. Sokolowski, 89, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at his residence. Memorial services will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Vincent was born the son of Joseph and Mary (Chirko) Sokolowski on August 11, 1925 in Mapleton, Iowa. Vincent married Cecilia Rams on August 25, 1946 in Sioux City. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sioux City. Vincent built homes with his brother, Ted until going to work for the Carpenter's Union. He later owned and operated Quality Remodeling Services. Vincent was a great husband and family man. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his family every summer. He loved nature and enjoyed bird watching and gardening. Vincent honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Vincent is survived by his wife, Cecilia Sokolowski of Sioux City; one son, Gene (Marty) Sokolowski of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Jan (Dennis) McHale of Hastings, Nebraska, Mary (Frank) Ankenbrand of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sandy (Mike) Jordan of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Stacy, Matt, Angela, Joshua, Katie, Jackie, and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren, Kiernan, Justine, Emma, Jordan, and Charlie; and his faithful companion, Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
