Marilyn J. Harris, 81, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Sunday July 6, 2014, after a short illness since January 2014, at a local care facility. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. prayer service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Online condolences can be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Marilyn was born July 13, 1932, in Hinton, IA to Allison and Viola (Harvey) Bauerly. Marilyn Jean Bauerly met Kenneth E. Harris in 1950. They joined together in unity on Dec. 27, 1951, in Sioux City. Marilyn worked at Johnson Biscuit and Zenith before becoming a homemaker. Kenneth preceded her in death in October 2007. She was a member of River City Anglers and Sioux City Eagles Club. Marilyn enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. She loved teaching the kids and grandkids how to sew, cook and clean. Loved ones left to cherish her memory include: five children, Janice Weber and Debra Harris, both of Sioux City, Richard Harris Sr, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Douglas and Laura Harris of Sergeant Bluff, Kelly and Pam Harris of Sioux City, six grandkids, Billie Jo and her husband, Kasey Willson, Amanda El-Shabazz and special friend Roy LaFrentz, Brett Harris and fiancé Sam Miller, all of Sioux City, Richard Jr and his wife, Deb of Doon , Mark Harris and his wife Lanie of Hull, Iowa and Daniel Harris of Sioux City, Ia; Six great-grandchildren; Brother, Gail and Betty Bauerly, a sister, Barb Jensen, a sister-in-law Dawn Bauerly, a brother-in-law, Leo and Frannie Harris of Sioux City; nephew, Mick and Marchell Matney of South Sioux City; a very special friends, Hap Henderson and Maudie Owens of Oklahoma; and many other close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years Kenneth Harris, In-laws Herbert and Faye Harris; Allison and Viola Bauerly; Gordon Bauerly, Jack Bauerly, Anita Hansen, a uncle Herman and Lois Besch and an infant daughter, JoDean Kay Harris. Pallbearers will be Richard Harris Jr, Mark Harris, Jason Bauerly, Josh Bauerly, Billy Hieb and David Jensen. Honorary pallbearers will be Kasey Willson, Brett Harris, and Daniel Harris.
