Harold F. Pettit, 80 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at a local care facility. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Laurice Streyffeler will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday all at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Harold was born August 31, 1933 in Sioux City; he was the son of Guy and Nora (Perrett) Pettit. Harold grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany. Harold married Bonnie Moss March 19, 1966 in Sioux City; she died Nov. 19, 1986 in Sioux City. Harold worked for a few years for the Sioux City Community School District before beginning his career with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He retired as an engineer in 1995. He enjoyed his morning coffee at McDonalds and liked to bike and spend time with his daughter, Tonya. Survivors include his daughter: Tonya Pettit of Glenwood, IA; a brother: Ronald Pettit and his wife Betty of Sioux City; a sister in law: Donna Turner of Sioux City and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie, and a brother Pat Turner Pallbearers will be Andrew, Jim, Matt and Guy Pettit, Jack Turner and Matt Champlin
