Edward J. "Ed" Flieder

Edward J. "Ed" Flieder, 61, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Ed was born the son of Robert and Faye (Chrestensen) Flieder on October 25, 1952 in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his education in several country schools. Ed married Connie Miller on September 1, 1973 in Sioux City. After their marriage they made their home in Sioux City. Ed worked for Sioux Muffler for many years. He most recently worked for Ag Reliance delivering fertilizer; that was the job he loved most. Also, in his spare time, he helped his father-in-law at his salvage yard. Ed loved all cars, G-body being his favorite. He enjoyed restoring his Chevy Malibus, being highly involved in local stock car racing, and collecting race memorabilia and toys. He was a great woodworker who made pieces of furniture and trim for his home. He loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughter at the race track and, was especially proud of his grandson for his service in the Air Force. In his younger years he liked to fish with his dad. He was a good friend to many and was always there to help when needed. He was a member of Strollers Car Club and enjoyed going to car shows with his wife. Edward is survived by his wife, Connie of Sioux City; one daughter, Heather (Chad) Lynch of Jefferson, South Dakota; four brothers, Bob Graves, Steve Graves, Dennis (Kristen) Flieder, and Dave (Denece) Musselman; two sisters, Diane (Joe) Gordon and Debbie (Bill) Ford; two grandchildren, Tyler and Bailey Lynch; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents; two brothers, Donovan Flieder and David Graves; parents-in-law, Harold and Ruby Miller; brother-in-law, Terry Miller; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Miller-Singer and Donna Johnson.
