Harry L. Fischer, 71 of Winnie, TX and formerly of Sioux City passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Clairmont nursing home in Beaumont, TX. Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroscchapels.com. Harry was born April 13, 1943 in Sioux City, the son of Otto and Ruth (Kress) Fischer. He was a United States Navy Veteran. After serving in the military, Harry pursued different careers until becoming a beekeeper. In 1983, Harry moved to Alamo, TX to build his beekeeping business. He then settled in Winnie, TX in 1991 and established a Honey Bee Farm with his oldest son Troy. He enjoyed going to casinos and traveling around to see his family. Harry was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He is survived by his sons: Troy and his wife Shellie of Winnie, TX, Shane and his wife Leslie of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan and his wife Laura of South Sioux City, NE, Trent and his wife Courtney of Omaha, NE, Justin and his wife Jaime of South Sioux City, NE, and Barrett and his wife Jenni of Dakota City, NE; daughters: KeriAne Nixon of South Sioux City, NE, and Sheila Gilbert and her husband Jim of California; 20 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters: Diana Lyons of Sioux City, IA, Lorraine Peterson of Gainesville, GA, Violet Mikell of Gainesville, FL and Alberta Kirk of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Walter, Lester, Herman, and Harvey; sisters: Eleanora Jones and Ester Miller, and a grandson Ethan Nixon.
