Mary C. "Connie" Lorenzen, 95, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ, 1407 W. 18th Street. Visitation with family present will be 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Mary was born the daughter of Frank and LaVon (Hitchens) Davey on August 15, 1918 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School in 1936. Connie married Ernest Lorenzen on May 11, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska. Ernest passed away in 1964. Connie worked for Arrow Stage Lines for over 20 years, where she loved the people and her work. Connie previously worked at the hosiery department at Martin's Department Store and worked in ticket sales for the Sioux City Musketeers. She enjoyed playing cards, going out for lunch, and hearing about her grandchildren and nephews. Connie was a lifelong member of Mayflower Congregational Church where she was very active. Her church was a large part of her life, Connie had many special friendships with the members. She was also a member of Pi Omega Mu sorority. Connie is survived by one daughter, Marilyn & Mike Carpenter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one son, Douglas & Christina Lorenzen of Joplin, Missouri; one sister, Erdeen "Cookie" Wagner of Sioux City; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren (Connie was able to travel to visit family even last year). She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; sister, Florence; brother, George; and brother-in-law, Leo.
