Helen C. Rowland 93, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Countryside Home in Madison, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be 2:00p.m. Wednesday May 28, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dan Lozer of Mayflower Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday May 27, 2014 from 5 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Helen C. Rowland was born November 21, 1920 in McCordsville, Indiana the daughter of Ashley and Edith (Seigmond) Shaffer. She graduated from high school and was a homemaker raising her two daughters. Helen and her husband Sidney made Sioux City their home following their wedding August 11, 1945 in New Augusta, Indiana Sidney preceded her in death October 8, 1989 in Sioux City. Helen was a resident of Sioux City for 52 years. Helen was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #27, American Legion Auxiliary #77 and the D.A.V. Auxiliary #54. Helen was also a member of Mayflower Congregational Church in Sioux City. Helen is survived by her two daughters: Janet and her husband Harold Kneifl of Sioux City, and Rebecca and her husband Russell Wiggs of Aurora, Co. One brother Larry Shaffer of Wilmington, Delaware, and two sisters Barbara McDonald of Noblesville, IN and Mary Jo, of Pendleton, IN along with five grandchildren; Kandy, Greg, Brett, Stephen and Scott and 13 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Ralph, and an infant brother, and one grandson Jeff.
