Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Born to Italian immigrants Thomas and Maria Giannetti, Rita was raised with four sisters. Hardworking, diligent and faith based, her parents raised their daughters to live in the same manner. After marrying Elmer in January of 1942 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, the couple spent a short time during the war stationed in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where Elmer was a Sergeant in the Army Air Force, before returning to Sioux City. Rita worked at St. Joseph School of Nursing for many years as a Housemother to student nurses. She was a favorite of the nurses who would remember her fondly for years to come as the warm and appreciative person she was. She had a genuine love for the young. She also had a heartfelt love for the innocent. Her grandchildren will remember her hearty laugh, and fun demeanor. Down to earth, Rita gardened and appreciated both wildlife and domestic animals. She supported both causes monetarily throughout her life, as well as missions for children. Rita also supported civic organizations, both firefighters and police. Her love of music was displayed throughout the many years she spent playing piano. Her children are blessed to remember the inspiring pieces Rita played, which leave images of how vital she was. Rita is survived by one son, Bryan Lynch and wife Kathy, daughters; Kathy and husband Elgin (Jim) Foster, Celia Pearson and Pat, Mary frances (Fran) Rochester and Lon. She is survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters of Sioux City, Alice Coppock and Clara Lawson. Sisters, Philomena Greteman and Lillian Gilman preceded her in death. Rita will be remembered for her beautiful smile, humility and strength of character. Memorials may be made in her name to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
