Donald L. Hollingshead

Donald L. "Donnie" Hollingshead Sr., 73 of Sioux City passed away Thursday June 5, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday June 9, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Squires, of Crescent Park United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be Sunday June 8, 2014 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Donald L. "Donnie" Hollingshead Sr. was born May 11, 1941 in Cherokee, Iowa the son of William and Ellen Marie (Church) Hollingshead. Donald married Margaret Marvin September 20, 1974 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Mr. Hollingshead was employed with Chesterman Company for 37 years here in Sioux City before his retirement. Mr. Hollingshead enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, wood working, photography, attending his grand children sporting events and the special Saturday night Trivia Pursuit gang of 25 years: Donnie, Marge, Terri, Gary and Deb and Steve. Donnie also had a great love of animals. Donnie was a past member of the Metal Detecting Club here in Sioux City. Mr. Hollingshead is survived by his wife Margaret, Four sons; Donald L Jr. and his wife Pam of Houston TX, Thad J. of Sioux City, Anthony W. and his wife Karrie of Sioux City and Robert L. and his wife Angie of Eagan, MN. Two daughters Pearl A. Roth of Sioux City and Julie M. Smith and her husband Robert of Alta, Iowa. Two brothers James R. Hollins of Sioux City and John W. Hollingshead of Denison, Iowa. Two sisters Anna M. Barnes and Mary Ely both of Sioux City. Mother in law Charlotte Marvin of Humboldt, Iowa, daughter- in-law Donna R. Hollingshead, 13 grandchildren and five and a half great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and father in law Robert L. Marvin. In lieu of flowers memorial maybe given in his name to the Siouxland Humane Society, Sioux City Animal Control or the American Cancer society
