Deryl D. Ellis, 70, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Al Weiss officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Deryl was born on November 27, 1943 in Allen, NE to Lawrence and Florence (Standing) Ellis. He graduated from Ponca High School in Ponca, NE. He worked for many years as a business owner running a mobile home transportation company. In his younger years he broke horses. He was united in marriage to Darlene Mauer in 1963. Deryl and Darlene were involved with starting the Sioux City Rough Riders Club. He was a long time member and co-founder of the Ag Rail Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, his pets, working on his antique John Deere Tractors, and spending valuable time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene Ellis of Sioux City; son Larry Ellis of Sioux City; daughter Chris (Jack) Barkley of Sioux City; grandchildren Joshua, Tyler and Amanda Barkley; brother Bill Ellis of Dennison, IA; sister Micky (Kevin) of Red Field, SD; and a brother Denny (Connie) Ellis of Dennison, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
