SIOUX CITY | Winifred "Winnie" H. Macfarlane, 87, of Sioux City, passed away into eternal life on June 5, 2014 with family by her side. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16th, at the First Presbyterian Church, Sioux City. A private family burial will be held in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 15th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Winnie was born in Washington, D.C., on March 20, 1927, to William and Maybelle (Burt) Hukill. She graduated from Ames High School and Iowa State University in 1948 with a degree in textiles and clothing. On September 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to William R. Macfarlane in Ames, IA. After their marriage they moved to Sioux City. Winnie loved to golf, play bridge, bowl, sew, and knit. She has knitted hundreds of baby caps for St. Luke's/Unity Point in the past years. Winnie is survived by her four children, Doug (Connie) Macfarlane, Jeff (Holly) Macfarlane, Betsy (Gary) Schubert all of Sioux City and Gini (Hal) Woolworth of Wisconsin. Ten grandchildren Kym (Bruce) Macfarlane, Brianna (Aaron) Atherton, Lindsey Schubert, Forrest (Sarah) Woolworth, Reid Woolworth, Hannah Macfarlane, Lucy Macfarlane, Cameron Woolworth, Clara Macfarlane, Mae Macfarlane, two step-grandchildren Eric and Ryan Falline. Five great grandchildren Stella, Gavin and Talan Macfarlane and Chase and Lauren Atherton. A brother William (Una) Hukill, Jr., sister, Ginny (Bud) Everett, sister-in-law Nancy Wickersham and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill, on April 6, 2003.
