Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Bob was born December 25, 1929 in Carroll, IA, the son of Daniel Vincent and Mary (Clifford) Lawler. He was raised in Wall Lake, IA until his mom passed when he was the age of 11 years. The family was separated for some time until they reunited and moved to O'Neill, and then Spalding, Nebraska before eventually settling in LeMars, IA where he graduated from St Joseph's High School . Bob later moved to Sioux City where he met his "Lebanese Lovely," Jackie Joseph. They married on October 13, 1956 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sioux City and went on to have six children. Together they owned and operated Lawler Fixture Company from 1963 until two of their children took over and continued their legacy in 2008. Bob was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, an Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long term member of the Downtown Rotary Club. Throughout the years he served on many church and school boards and various committees. "A stranger is just a friend I never met," said Will Rogers, and that is the best way to describe Bob. His friendships were important to him, whether it be his Wednesday billiards' day, lunch with his buddies, attending Friday night Heelan football games, or having Sunday brunch with the "Potluck" group. Most importantly, he cherished his time with family, whether it was spending time at the house or attending grandkids' activities. Perseverance was one of Bob's most prominent traits, helping him weather many business cycles. But it first showed itself at the age of twelve when he finished the spring planting on the family farm when his father was suddenly laid low by back problems. In later years, it served him well as he tackled health issues. He persevered to the very end. But most of all, everyone loved the twinkle in his sparkling blue Irish eyes and his wonderful sense of humor.
