Howard L. Ham, 82, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at a local care facility. Visitation with the family present will be Monday, June 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with the funeral being held at 7 P.M. Howard was born the son of Howard L. and Winifred (Reiling) Ham on September 27, 1931 in Sioux City. He attended grade school in Sioux City before moving to the farm in Castana, Iowa until joining the military at 17. He married Leora T. Sager on July 27, 1953 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. After their marriage they made their home in Sioux City. Howard worked as a foreman for Omaha Line Hydraulics for 25 years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and watching golf. He liked to train short hair pointers. Howard honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Howard is survived by one son, Myron (Susan) Ham of Lincoln, Nebraska; three daughters, Susan (Darrell) Schroeppel of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathy (Tony) Hibma of Sioux City, and Teresa Ham-Mohr of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and good friend, Diana Gralapp. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leora; one son, Gary; and one sister, Loretta.
