William Winterlin, Jr.

William WInterlin, Jr. 90, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Central Baptist Church. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. William was born the son of William and Nettie (Larson) Winterlin, Sr. on April 5, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his education in the Sioux City schools graduating from Central High School. Bill went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in 1948. William married Margaret "Peg" Gustavson on September 7, 1949 in Youngstown, Ohio. The couple made their home in Sioux City for nearly 65 years. Bill was General Manager and Vice President of Cornbelt Supply Company until 1983 when the business closed. He enjoyed fishing at their lake cabin in Bemidji, Minnesota where they spent summers together for 35 years. He also enjoyed traveling and making memories with his wife, Peg for many years. Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Central Baptist Church for many years. Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Winterlin of Dakota Dunes; two sons, Gordon (Paula) Winterlin of Dakota Dunes and Roger (Joanie) Winterlin of Clinton, Iowa; one brother, Wray (Arlene) Winterlin of Davis, California; 7 grandchildren, Sheryl (Lawrence) O'Connor of Elk River, Minnesota, Jennifer Tostenson of Mankato, Minnesota, Daniel (Sarah) Winterlin of Shakopee, Minnesota, Jessica (Richard) Hoffman of Bloomington, Minnesota, Jeffrey Winterlin of Bloomington, Minnesota, Brian (Sheri) Winterlin of Sioux City, and Timothy Winterlin of Hooper, Nebraska; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Leona Winterlin of Great Bend, Kansas and Elsie Gustavson of Maplewood, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, DeWayne; and one brother-in-law, Donald Gustavson.
