SIOUX CITY | Lucile M. Kyle, 90, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Sunrise Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Ryan Christenson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be made online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Lucile was born June 26, 1923 in Wagner, SD the daughter of Arthur and Luella (Trickler) Barkley. She graduated from high school in Ravinia, SD and attended Springfield (SD) Teachers College. She taught country school near Wagner. On June 3, 1949 she married Earl A. Kyle in Wagner, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux City.A Lucile worked for Johnson Biscuit Co. then she worked at several other positions including as a self-employed seamstress. Earl died Feb. 26, 1991 in Sioux City. Lucile was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the church's Meriam Circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Lucile loved to sew for her family and others. She made and donated many lap robes for the Sioux Falls veterans and dress dolls for the Salvation Army. Survivors include three sons, Michael Kyle and his wife, Joanne, Kevin Kyle and Steven Kyle all of Sioux City; a daughter Deborah Hatlestad of Federal Heights, Colo.; a brother, Raymond Barkley and his wife, Lois of Lake Andes, SD; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild on the way; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, daughter, Sandra Scheer, son-in-law, Bruce Hatlestad, brothers, Earl and Harvey Barkley, sister-in-law, Margaret Barkley and a granddaughter, Nicole Hatlestad. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Sunrise Retirement Home or St. James United Methodist Church.
