Anthony K. "Tony" Bride, 74 of Sloan, IA passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from an illness of leukemia. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Skien Lutheran Church, 11929 Aspen Ave., Sloan, IA 51055. To get to the Church take Interstate 29 to Exit 127 and go .4 miles west to Hwy K42. Go south 3 miles on K42 to 120th St. and turn right. Go west 2 miles on 120th St. to the Church. Rev. Craig Bock will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday all at the Church. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Tony was born February 11, 1940 in Kingsley, IA; he was the son of Edward and Dorothy (Carter) Bride, Jr. Tony grew up in the Kingsley area and graduated from Kingsley High School where he played basketball. He served in the 185th Air National Guard. Tony married Judith Lubanski Oct. 17, 1968 in South Sioux City, NE. He owned and operated the local hardware store in Sloan, worked at A.G.P. and then in the maintenance department for the City of Sloan. Tony was a member of Skein Lutheran Church. He enjoyed doing crafts, bird watching, gardening, yard work and spending time with his dog, Bubba. Survivors include his wife: Judy of Sloan, IA; 3 sons: Tom Bride of Sioux City, David Bride (Cindy) of Sioux City and Jeffrey Bride; his brother: Terry Bride (Lavonne) of Sioux City; his sister: Judy Huennekens (Don) of Orange, CA; 2 grandchildren: Kaleb and Amber Tony was preceded in death by his parents Pallbearers will be Tom Bride, David Bride, Bruce Golden, Kenny Bride, Don Jones and Todd Wilson. The family would like to thank the nurses at Mercy Medical Center on the 7th floor Oncology Department for the wonderful care they gave to Tony.
