Clifford "Wade" Monk, 74 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Kingsley Nursing & Rehab. Center in Kingsley, IA following a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Kingsley. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 -8:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Wade was born November 25, 1939 in Sioux City; he was the son of Clifford C. and Wenona (Miille) Monk. He grew up in the Moville area and attended country school through 5th grade. Wade went to Moville Community School and graduated from Moville High School in 1958. He attended Iowa State University before joining the. U.S. Air Force. Wade served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1964 and was in radio communications. He married Janice (Jan) K. Gray June 10, 1967 in Sioux City. Wade was a letter carrier for the U.S Postal Service in Sioux City for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Wade enjoyed gardening, playing cribbage, hunting and fishing but most of all spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Janice (Jan) of Sioux City; 3 children: Kelli Barngrover (David) of Sioux City, Jason Monk (Carmen) of Moville, IA, Staci Nelson (Bruce) of Omaha, NE; his mother: Wenona Monk Janssen of Kingsley, IA; 2 sisters: Marlene Witt (Jerry) of Lawton, IA, Linda Davis (Chet) of Kingsley, IA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and Gary Aguirre of Henderson, NV; 8 grandchildren: Chauncey Monk, Zachary (Jami) and Megan Barngrover, Henry and Samuel Monk, August and Lovisa Nelson; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Wade was preceded in death by his father Clifford and his step father Roy Janssen. Pallbearers will be Chauncey Monk, Zachary Barngrover, Steven Witt, Heath Davis, Mike Aguirre and Roger Monk.
