James Stephen "Steve" Hittle, 66, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City. Per Steve's wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Steve was born on February 13, 1948 to James N. "Jimmy" and Grace (Lukes) Hittle in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from Briar Cliff College. Steve joined the 133rd Iowa Army National Guard in 1970 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1976. He was united in marriage to Lupe de la Campa in 1971. To this union 2 children were born. Steve was a musician and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Steve was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a very proud friend of Bill W. for over 30 years. Steve worked as a real-estate broker and Businessman for many years. He is survived by his 2 children, Steve (Becky) Hittle, Jr. of Potomac, MD; Margarita (Sean) Finnerty of Remington, VA; 3 grandchildren Frances and James S. Hittle, III and Nora Grace Finnerty; 2 brothers Peter K. (Nancy) Hittle of Sioux City; Jon Bradley (Barb) Hittle of Scotland, SD; and Lupe (Daniel) Durante of Gainesville, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of America
