Jay M. Castelbaum, 67 of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Ralph Shorey will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Monday all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jay was born January 20, 1947 in Warren, OH; he was the son of Al and Pauline (Silver) Castelbaum. He grew up in Albuquerque, NM and then served in the U. S. Navy as a hospital corpsman during the Vietnam Conflict. Jay then graduated from the University of New Mexico. Jay was in the real estate business for many years in Albuquerque and was selected to be the director of the Board of Realtors. He then worked in San Francisco, Boise, ID, Moses Lake, WA and then back to Boise where he was employed by Qwest. Jay was transferred to Sioux City by Qwest and after leaving Qwest, he was employed by the State of Nebraska until retiring in July of 2013. Jay married Stacey Kitto August 8, 2008 in Sioux City. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and riding his Harley Motorcycle. Survivors include his wife Stacey Kitto of Sioux City; 3 daughters: Melissa Sydow (Mike Bocian) of McCook Lake, SD and their children: Nate Sydow, Sage, Hanna and Chase Bocian, April Zortman and her husband David of Hot Springs, SD, Sophia Kitto of Sioux City; his brothers and sisters in law: Shawn McKinley of Summerset, PA, Jason McKinley (Therese) of Houston, TX, Lisa Holzerland (Nic) of Sioux City, Michael Oban (Erin) of Dakota City, NE, Katie Oban and her fiancé Brandon Victor of Emerson, NE; 7 nieces and nephews: Grace, Isaac, Lauren, Jaxson, Haleigh, Ethan and Ava. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Kirk Howe, Michael Oban, Jason McKinley, Nate Sydow, Nic Holzerland and Brandon Victor.
