Lorraine R. Montagne, 93, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Council Bluffs. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2014 from 3 to 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 to 7 P.M. with a Vigil service at 6 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lorraine was born the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Chicoine) Bertrand on May 22, 1920 in Jefferson, South Dakota. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended NBT College for one year. Lorraine married James Montagne on July 27, 1943 in Jefferson, South Dakota. After their marriage, they made their home in Sioux City. Lorraine worked for Lee & Lewis Electric, Jones Distribution, and Best Western Hotel. She retired in 1993. She was an active member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She was also an avid volunteer for a number of charity efforts. She was a member of a local dance group for many years performing at various functions. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and bread making. Lorraine is survived by one son, James (Anne) Montagne, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Beverly (Gary) Skoog of Elmhurst, Illinois; grandmother of Barry Montagne, Omaha, Nebraska; Suzanne Montagne, Omaha, Nebraska; Mona Lazar, Oak Park, Illinois; Katrina Nguyen, Chicago, Illinois; Alicia Skoog, Chicago, Illinois; great -grandmother of Noa Lazar; Sadie Lazar and Leila Lazar. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brothers, Lee, Andrew, Martin, Hubert, Norbert and Francis; sisters, Elaine, Bonita and Genevieve.
